Dear Friend of Washington CeaseFire,

Now, more than ever, we need sensible solutions to gun violence. Gun violence continues to reach into all communities of our state -- from a young girl tragically shot and killed by her father in Snohomish County, to a mother shot by a teenager as she hiked in Skagit County, to officers shot in the line of duty, to the far too many youth we have lost. In the United States, the amount of lives we lose to gun violence EVERY YEAR is TEN TIMES the number of American lives lost during the ENTIRETY of the Iraq war.

September Brings Another Tragedy and Dialogue

Dear supporter of Washington CeaseFire,

Summer is fading, the election is in full swing, and we've experienced yet another mass tragedy here in Washington State.  We must do more to protect our communities -- and we can -- gun violence is preventable.

Washington CeaseFire April 2008

Dear E-Friends,

One year ago, on April 16th, the deadliest shooting rampage in U.S. history left us with the loss of 33 lives. This tragedy served as a stark reminder of the toll our lack of sensible gun regulation is taking on our nation. We must work with our community members and policy makers to strengthen our gun laws. Requiring background checks for all gun purchases and having a comprehensive and continually updated National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) are necessary to our safety. Please join WCF on Wednesday, April 16th at noon at Westlake Park to voice your desire for sensible solutions to the firearm violence epidemic. Here’s what else is happening this month at WCF:

Washington CeaseFire March 2008

Dear E-Members,

As the legislative session came to an end this month, we have begun to focus on our community outreach efforts. We are promoting our ASK program for parents, and trying to garner more support from campus communities. As the gun debate rages on it is not only important that we offer sensible solution to the regulation of firearms, but also to educate our communities on how to lessen the threat of firearm violence.
