Authorities are investigating a drive-by shooting Saturday night just south of Sunnyside that injured three people, including a woman who was seriously injured.
The shooting victims were in a 1993 Mitsubishi sedan southbound on Waneta Road near the Hollis Road intersection about 11:35 p.m. when a dark-colored SUV pulled alongside them, according to a Yakima Sheriff's Office news release.
Several shots were fired at the sedan, wounding three of the four people inside, Sgt. John Duran wrote in the news release.
The SUV continued south on Waneta Road toward Mabton, victims told authorities.
One bullet struck the face of the driver, a 33-year-old Sunnyside man, the release said. Another bullet hit a 23-year Sunnyside man in the arm. A 24-year-old Sunnyside woman suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.
All three were taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital, according to the release. The men's wounds were considered nonlife-threatening. The woman's injuries were considered critical, but authorities did not release her condition Sunday afternoon.
