A 54-year-old Burien man was arrested Tuesday morning after firing a 12-gauge shotgun at passing cars near the intersection of South 128th Street and First Avenue South in Burien.

A driver called 911 around 5 a.m. Tuesday to report that a man with a shotgun had pointed the weapon at him as he drove past the intersection, said King County Sheriff's spokesman, Sgt. John Urquhart.

When deputies and Burien police officers arrived, they spotted the man with a long-barreled gun and witnessed him fire at passing vehicles, Urquhart said.

First Avenue South was briefly closed as the deputies approached the man and ordered him to drop the shotgun. He complied and was booked into jail on investigation of assault, Urquhart said.

The man didn't provide officers with a motive for the shooting. No one was hurt and no cars were hit.
