YAKIMA, Wash. -- The second of three suspects identified in a Grandview gun battle was charged this week in Yakima County Superior Court.

Santiago Barrera Brito, 17, is accused of first-degree assault and second-degree illegal firearm possession.

Earlier this month, 27-year-old Pasco resident Juan Zepeda was charged with second-degree assault. Detectives said Thursday they are awaiting a warrant against the third known suspect, Victor Flores Garcia.

Investigators allege that all three took part in a May 27 exchange of gunfire between gang rivals in a residential neighborhood near the corner of Crescent Avenue and West Fifth Street.

Zepeda was shot in the leg.

According to a police report filed to support the charges against Brito, Brito fired a dozen rounds toward Zepeda.

Brito lives in the same neighborhood where the shots were fired.
